I feel like it was reading The First by P.J Ferguson that actually made me want to go back in to the word of faeries and magic that is present in the Artemis Fowl series.

This is the last book in the series, which I honestly had forgotten about. When I was younger, I was such an absolutely huge fan of the Artemis Fowl series.  I was actually almost on the next level of being a fan for them, I think it’s one of the first series that I fangirled over.

So this book was a little nostalgic for me, it was really nice to go back and revisit these familiar characters and the world that I fell in love with as a child and still adore as an adult.

This book takes place during the final battle between Artemis and Opal, the latter of which is doing her best to raise Armageddon. It’s up to Artemis, Holly, Butler, Foaley, and Munch to once again face off, this time against the crazy megalomaniac pixie who could end the world.

I forgot how much I enjoyed Colfer’s writing style. It’s dry and sarcastic and had me actually laughing out loud at times and just honestly I can’t think of a negative thing to say here. At all.

  1. Earlier this year, I re-read all eight AF books in a span of a week. And maybe because I was so wired into the world and freshly attached to the characters, what happens at the end of the last book threw me off kilter so hard, that I didn’t even know what to think about it. I was just so angry and upset (I get very attached to characters).
Also, I had read all the books several years ago, but not the last book – I think I’d read a spoiler about what happens and it put me off reading the last book. And I did not remember what it was that put me off until after I read it.
